Without a regular treatment plan, weeds can become established on your property and become difficult to kill.

If you are a resident or business owner in the Northwest Arkansas area, you can take advantage of our companies expert lawn care programs with proper weed control applications.

8 STEP WEED CONTROL PROGRAM

The schedule that we follow to apply your fertilizer applications includes treatments for weeds, disease, and insects. We spread out 8 applications between January and December, approximately every 6 weeks.

Our fertilization and weed control schedule is detailed below:

Pre-spring: A pre-emergent weed control treatment is applied to your lawn to get ahead of any weed growth as the weather warms up.

Early spring: Our crew will return to add another pre-emergent weed control treatment as well as a post-emergent treatment if we see any weeds actively growing.

Mid-spring: With our spring fertilization treatment, our experts will treat your grass with a time-released fertilizer treatment in order to stimulate spring green-up and root growth. Post-emergent weed control is also applied at this time if needed.

Early summer: Our first treatment of the summer will be to apply more of our time-released fertilizer. This time, with high nitrogen content in order to promote a greener, healthier-growing lawn. Another weed treatment is applied if needed.

Mid-summer: During this visit, our team will feed your grass with more time-released fertilizer so that your lawn will continue to grow lush, green, and thick. Post-emergent weed control treatments will be used if we notice any growing weeds.

Late summer: We will treat your grass one last time at the end of summer in order to help it recover from the heat. If needed, we will spray for weeds.

Early fall: Our last fertilization treatment of the year is designed to promote deep root development so your lawn will be ready for the winter season. Weed control is applied at this time as needed.

Late fall: To help prevent winter weeds from growing, we will apply a pre-emergent weed control treatment as our last treatment of the year.

WHEN ARE WEED CONTROL TREATMENTS APPLIED?

Our complete lawn care package tackles your weed problems on every visit throughout the season. By using a pre-emergent herbicide, we stop weeds at the root level and keep them from popping through the surface and tackle any weeds that break through with post emergent weed control applications.

Although treating your lawn for weeds using a pre-emergent formula provides the best control for prevention, sometimes the weeds already exist. In these cases, we use a post-emergent weed treatment that will take care of existing weeds with every service.

COMMON WEEDS FOUND IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

Spotting weeds can be easy, but determining which types of weeds are on your property can be trickier. There are hundreds of types of weeds across the country. When it comes to broadleaf weeds that can be found in and around the Northwest Arkansas area, you can be sure to find both annual and perennial varieties.

Annual weeds live for one growing season then produce seeds and die. These seeds can remain in your soil for years and will germinate when conditions are favorable. They are best treated by pre-emergent applications. The foliage of perennial weeds will die back to the ground each year while the roots remain alive but dormant below ground. Once favorable environmental conditions return the foliage will regrow. These weeds grow and spread either by underground rhizomes or roots, are much more invasive, and usually require a post-emergent application.

How Weeds Affect Your Lawn

Weeds are invasive and can take over a healthy lawn rapidly. Weeds impact your property negatively by:

  • Overtaking your grass
  • Consuming water, nutrients, and sunlight meant for plants and grasses
  • Becoming established on bare ground in your yard
  • Leaving lawns aesthetically unattractive
